HTTP Environment Variables (Chapter 6)
Main Lab 5 Page
There is more information about the user than their IP address.
The HTTP_USER_AGENT
variable contains all the information available regarding the user's web browser.
This can come in real handy for detecting whether the user is running an old browser, which could allow the site to be customized in a way that would allow the user to see the site as it was meant to be. Because sometimes, old web browsers often don't operate the same way modern browsers do. Other web users may be viewing the site on a mobile device, in which case the site could be optimized for the smaller screen.
